The museum, which was inaugurated in 1928, was fully redesigned and modernised with the installation of high impact audiovisual and multimedia elements in which objects of the original collection were integrated.

Life-size reconstruction in 3D of a whale (balaena glacialis glacialis) projected onto a 6 by 1 metre dreamglass screen, in front of the skeleton of a real example kept in the museum of this Cetacea. A set of dreamglass transparencies was used to create the effect of seeing the whale in 3D with the skeleton visible inside it, to the surprise of the visitor.
